TAYLOR SWIFT RECEIVES PRAISE FROM AR RAHMAN FOR NEW ALBUM, FANS HOPE FOR FUTURE COLLAB

During the 2024 Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift surprised her fans by revealing that her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, will be released this year. The pop star released the album less than a week ago, and it has already smashed several records. Not only have fans been raving about her record, but music gurus are also offering their opinions. Oscar and Grammy-winning composer AR Rahman has now stepped in to congratulate Swift on the release of her eleventh studio album.

“All the best @taylorswift13 (sic) for your latest album #THETORTUEDPOETSDEPARTMENT (sic),” Rahman said, sharing the album cover.

The hashtag ‘AR Rahman X Taylor Swift’ has been trending on social media since Rahman’s tweet, with fans supporting their collaboration.

Swift actually gave the Indian musician a lot of praise back in 2014 when she said, “I have heard a lot about AR Rahman,” in an interview with Hindustan Times. “I think he is a fantastic musician. His music touches the soul. I would love to hear him live in performance once.”

Meanwhile, Rahman talked with Connect FM Canada about Swift, saying it is fantastic when individuals use the power of music to accomplish good. Michael Jackson, who performed several charity performances and engaged in philanthropic work in Africa, was mentioned by Rahman as having the “power to do that”. “It is nice to see Taylor attaining that.”

Swift, he said, “has gone through so much.” Following her betrayal, she returned. Rahman said that she is an excellent example of a case study and an inspiration to musicians.

On April 19, The Tortured Poets Department broke Spotify’s record for the most-streamed album in a single day this year, reaching the milestone in less than a day of release. The 31-track album had over 313 million plays on its first day alone.

Swift is perhaps the most popular entertainer currently on the scene. An analytics firm called Luminate claims that five of the 10 most-listened-to albums in America in 2023 were hers. With a total of 384 weeks spent in the top 10 of the Billboard chart, Swift’s albums have surpassed a record held by the Beatles.

Throughout the course of 31 songs on her album The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, carefully dissected every aspect of her recent relationships.

Extended double albums are really rather frequent for legendary performers at the height of their popularity. Bruce Springsteen’s 20 tracks on The River and the Beatles’ 30 songs on the White Album are just two examples. However, both of those may have continued to be the beloved masterpieces that they are now with some more careful editing. For Swift, what has distinguished her from her contemporaries is the calibre of her work rather than its quantity.

As she has sung in Blank Space, “the high” has undoubtedly been “worth the pain.”
