HERE ARE TOP FIVE MUST WATCH RECOMMENDATIONS BY VIDYA BALAN

Vidya Balan’s film ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ also starring Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy is currently running in the theatres. The actor was busy promoting her film this month on various platforms. In one such conversation, Vidya shared the shows and movies she liked recently. 

In an interview with ‘Unfiltered By Samdish’ Vidya made some shows and movie recommendations that she recently watched and really liked. Here are her top picks:  

Past Lives (Apple TV)

Written and directed by Celine Song, the film stars Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, and John Magaro in major roles. Past Lives follows the story of two childhood friends Nora (played by Greta Lee) and Hae Sung (played by Teo Yoo) over the course of 24 years. They get separated in childhood and a chance encounter in New York reconnects the bond between them. The film was praised by critics and audiences. 

Kaathal - The Core (Prime Video)

Starring Malayalam superstar Mammootty and Jyothika, the film is directed by Joe Baby. The story revolves around Mathew Devassy (Mammootty), a retired bank secretary, who is presented with an opportunity to enter politics. His political aspirations are thrown into jeopardy when his wife, Omana (Jyothika), files for divorce, citing his homosexuality. The film is a poignant tale of embracing your sexuality, social acceptance, and the complexities of relationships. 

The Regime (Jio Cinema)

Starring Kate Winslet, this HBO six-episode miniseries is a political satire on the absurdity and dangers of authoritarian rule. Kate plays Elena Vernham, the Chancellor of a fictional Central European nation, who becomes paranoid as her authoritarian regime starts to crumble. Winslet delivers a terrific performance of a ruthless leader, also giving glimpses of her hidden vulnerability and insecurity.

 

Love On The Spectrum (Netflix)

The reality documentary series follows adults on the autism spectrum as they navigate the world of dating and relationships. The show offers a heartwarming and insightful look into the lives of these individuals. The goes beyond stereotypes often associated with autism.

Down For Love (Netflix)

The reality show follows a group of individuals with Down syndrome as they embark on a journey to find love and companionship. Celebrating the unique personalities of each individual, the show highlights that like everyone else, people with Down syndrome need affection, partnership, and a sense of belonging. 

While recommending these two reality shows, Vidya Balan said, “Such delightful content, of course, reality TV. It’s my recommendation to everyone if you want to watch something pure and unfiltered, you must watch these two shows.”
