Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh and Jonny Bairstow's passionate celebration after their record run chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday has broken the internet. The duo helped their team chase down a record-breaking target. It was a run-fest at the Eden Gardens as the batters from both sides dominated the bowlers in a batting paradise.
Bairstow lit the Kolkata skyline with a monstrous hundred as Punjab owned the 'City of Joy' with a world record chase of 262 against a befuddled Kolkata.
On a sultry evening in a parched Kolkata, Punjab batters rained sixes, 24 of them all as a target of 262 was overhauled in 18.4 overs, courtesy Bairstow's unbeaten 108 off 48 deliveries, well supported by Shashank's 68 not out off 28 deliveries and Prabhsimran Singh's punchy 54 off just 20 deliveries.

When Sunil Narine (71 off 32 balls) and Phil Salt (75 off 37 balls) smoked the Punjab bowlers in 40 degree plus temperature in the evening, little did Shreyas Iyer envisage what fate awaited him and his men at night. The night never belonged to Knights as Bairstow had earmarked the Friday night for his redemption with a 'Shashank' for company.
No credit is enough for Prabhsimran, who began in earnest making a mincemeat of the Kolkata attack on a flat track, giving Bairstow some time to get his bearings right.
After Prabhsimran's departure, Rilee Rossouw struck a 16-ball 26, while in-form Shashank blasted eight sixes, just one less than Bairstow's nine in what turned out to be a walk in the park.
