LOK SABHA ELECTIONS: BJP'S 'VOTE FOR THE G.O.A.T' RAP FOR FIRST-TIME VOTERS GOES VIRAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA

In another unique bid to reach out to first-time voters, the BJP on Thursday released a rap song titled "Vote for the G.O.A.T", which has gone viral on social media.

The rap song, lasting 3 minutes and 24 seconds, was released on the eve of the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

It features a group of young artists and promotes the work done by the Narendra Modi government using Gen Z buzzwords such as G.O.A.T, OG, FOMO, among others.

The song lists key achievements of the Modi government over the last 10 years, such as the withdrawal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, and the implementation of 33 percent women reservation, among others.

The trendy song shot like a contemporary rap video, is aimed at wooing young and first-time voters. According to the Election Commission, more than 18 million first-time voters will be voting their franchisee in the General Elections this time.

The song is part of BJP's aggressive digital campaign in the run-up to the polls and comes close on the heels of PM Narendra Modi's meeting with popular Indian gamers last week.

Last month too, BJP had released a similar anthem titled "#MyChoiceModi', which was aimed at first-time voters. The earlier rap song too urged young voters to contribute to India's journey towards becoming a 'Vishwaguru' (world leader).

The BJP, however, is not the only party tapping social media to reach out to people, especially first-time voters.

The Congress has released several digital ads, focusing on issues such as unemployment, job security, and farmers.

The Trinamool Congress, meanwhile, pushed out its digital campaign earlier this month with the punchline “Jonegoner Gorjon”, meaning the public’s roar. The party, through this music video echoing its Maa, Maati, Manush slogan, vowed not to let the BJP enter the state under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.
