Samsung's concept of using smart TVs like an art frame was well received. And now, with the launch of the Music Frame, the company is applying the same idea to speakers to make it a highly functional device, even when it is in idle mode.

Along with the Neo QLED 8K, 4K, and OLED 4K smart TVs, Samsung recently announced the Music Frame, which costs Rs 29,990. The Samsung Music Frame can be used as a digital frame, a home theatre, a Bluetooth speaker, and it even works as a smart home hub that controls various smart devices.

What is the Samsung Music Frame?

As the name suggests, this is Samsung’s latest speaker featuring a 12.9-inch square display that doubles up as a digital frame to display photos and digital artwork. It can be paired with a smartphone, a laptop or a smart TV and used like a wired/wireless speaker. There is also support for Chromecast, allowing users to stream various content directly from an Android smartphone.

Like a normal photo frame, Music Frame can be placed on a table or be wall mounted. Its frame is customisable, enabling users to match the aesthetics of their home or office. One can either project default images available on the SmartThings app or they can add images of their choice.

The Music Frame, however, runs on AC power and does not have an integrated battery. Hence, it needs to be plugged into power at all times.

Samsung Music Frame supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and to set it up, one needs to download the SmartThings app. A Samsung account and active internet are required to set up the Music Frame. The app can be used to customise the sound profile as well. It has options like sound mode, equalizer, space fit, and active voice amplifier features. The Music Frame does not come with a remote control, but has physical buttons at the back for volume control.

Once configured, the Music Frame can be paired with any smartphone or laptop, and to pair a new device, one needs to press the on/off button for five seconds to enable pairing mode.

Audio features of Music Frame

Despite its small footprint, the Music Frame is a full-fledged speaker system capable of producing up to 120W of sound output. It also supports cutting-edge audio technologies such as wireless Dolby Atmos.

Two or more Music Frames can be paired with each other using Q-Symphony feature to create a cohesive audio output. Similarly, when paired with a select Samsung smart TV, both the Music Frame and the TV can play the audio to create a stereo-like effect.

Samsung smartphone users (select models) can simply tap on the Music Frame with their phone and the speaker will automatically start playing the song currently playing on the smartphone.

This is a 2.0-channel speaker system, consisting of six speakers and it also has proprietary SpaceFit Sound Pro technology, where the speaker will scan, analyse and optimise the room acoustics to deliver the best possible audio output. On top of that, the Music Frame is also compatible with Spotify(Hi-Fi) Connect, where users can directly stream their Spotify playlist on the Music Frame.
