Television actor Vaibhavi Upadhyaya's untimely death in a car accident has left her fans in shock. Her brother, Ankit, has now shared details of what happened. According to him, Vaibhavi was wearing a seat-belt when her vehicle met with an accident in Kullu earlier this week. Her fiance Jai Gandhi was driving the car at the time.
Ankit told ETimes that the news of his sister's death has left him broken, and that informing their parents about it was the toughest things to do. Vaibhavi's parents were in Australia at the time, and were not made aware of her death until they reached Mumbai. They were inconsolable at her funeral. He shared that his mother is too weak and is not able to fathom the grave loss.
Ankit said that on the morning of May 23, he received a call from the Himachal police informing him of his sister's death. He said he was "numb" and "couldn't believe it." He then shared details of how the accident happened. Ankit said that he was told that a heavy vehicle had brushed the rear of Vaibhavi's car, which sent it into a valley, and she got "thrown outside the car".
Ankit also clarified that, contrary to speculation, she was wearing a seat-belt at the time, as could be gathered from injury marks. After the accident, the locals took her to a hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Jai was still trapped in the car and he had to break the windshield with the help of the locals.
Sharing details of the injuries that Vaibhavi succumbed to, Ankit shared that she was hurt in her ribs and her lungs and liver were ruptured. She finally suffered a heart attack and died.
