RAJINIKANTH REACTS TO 'COOLIE' AUDIO RIGHTS ISSUE

Actor Rajinikanth has signed up for his 171st movie with director Lokesh Kanagaraj which is titled 'Coolie'. The title promo was launched a couple of weeks back and it has been creating a lot of buzz. Following the title promo, music composer Ilaiyaraaja claimed copyrights for his music being used on the 'Coolie' promo. It has caused a huge debate amongst the fans, netizens and audience as Ilaiyaraaja was not happy with the makers using his song 'Va Va Pakkam Vaa' in the film promo without his permission.

Now, the superstar actor has opened up about his views over this issue. Speaking to the media outside Chennai International airport, the actor diplomatically stated that it is a problem between the producer and the music maestro and they should handle the issue. The 'Coolie' team faces a legal trouble over the song used in the promo, as Ilaiyaraaja has sent a copyright notice to the production house as the music was used without his permission.

In the statement, Ilaiyaraaha said that the makers have to seek proper permission from him or remove the song from promo. He also warned that if the producers don't listen to him, he will seek legal action against them.

Despite this legal dispute, the movie is said to go on floors in June and the music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The makers are yet to reveal the cast and crew of the film. The Rajinikanth starrer will be a standalone film and will not be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. The film is scheduled for a release in 2025.

On the work front, Rajinikanth is now shooting for his film 'Vettaiyan'. Directed by TJ Gnanvel, the film stars Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier among others. The music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and it is set for its release in October this year.
