MANOJ BAJPAYEE’S SIRF EK BANDAA KAAFI HAI EYES THEATRICAL RELEASE POST ZEE5 PREMIERE; ACTOR SAYS MAKERS ‘BRAINSTORMING’ HOW TO GO ABOUT IT

Actor Manoj Bajpayee's Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai might have a reverse journey-- after premiering to acclaim on ZEE5, the drama will have a limited theatrical release soon.  The film features Bajpayee as a passionate lawyer fighting against a godman who is accused of raping a minor.

Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the film, inspired by true events, released on May 23 on ZEE5. Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai garnered acclaim and Bajpayee tells indianexpres.com that the makers saw growing fans demands to release the film theatrically and are in the process to make it happen.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, Bajpayee says Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai will, at least as of now, have a symbolic theatrical release to honour the demand. "In the beginning I was the only one fighting with Zee Studios and Shariq, the head, with Vinod Bhanushali, and the entire team. That this film is made for theatres.

"We are still arguing about it, who was right and who is not right, that's a very hilarious one. But because of the massive public demand, Zee Studio and Vinod are sitting together as we speak, brainstorming as to how to go about releasing it in theatres. At least symbolically, to respect the demand of the audience. Let's see where it goes from here," he says.

The film, written by Deepak Kingrani, traces the journey of an ordinary lawyer who is out to fight an extraordinary case against a powerful godman accused of assaulting a minor. Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who is currently serving a life sentence, after being convicted of a similar crime, had slapped the makers with a legal notice.
