Ram Charan was born in Chennai to Megastar Chiranjeevi and his wife Surekha. He has two sisters, an older sister Sushmitha and a younger sister Sreeja.

His family hails from Mogalthuru and Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh. He is part of the influential Allu–Konidela family, which is known for their presence in business ventures, politics, and films.

His maternal grandfather was noted comic actor Allu Ramalingaiah. Many of his cousins are noted actors such as Allu Arjun, Allu Sirish, Sai Tej, Panja Vaisshnav Tej, and Niharika Konidela, are his cousins.

He is married to Upasana Kamineni, the vice-chairperson of Apollo Charity. They met in college and soon fell in love. After dating for a few years, they got married on June 14, 2012.

Kamineni’s family owns and runs the Apollo Hospitals which is India’s first corporate hospital chain. Ram Charan and Upasana welcomed their first child, a daughter on June 20, 2023, in Hyderabad. She is named Klin Kaara.
