LEE JOO-BIN ON HER NEGATIVE ROLE IN QUEEN OF TEARS: 'I DON'T THINK OF HER AS VILLAIN'

South Korean drama Queen Of Tears has been enjoying much popularity among viewers, since its inception in March. Directed jointly by Kim Hee-won and Jang Young-woo, the romantic comedy stars Kim Ji-won and Kim Soo-hyun in lead roles. However, impressing the masses with her performance as a negative character is actress Lee Joo-bin who essays the role of Cheon Da-hye. Lee Joo-bin recently talked about her Queen Of Tears character and how she felt playing an antagonist.

In an interaction with Esquire magazine, Lee Joo-bin revealed that she was anxious to act amid the performances of her senior co-stars, reports All K-pop. Despite the initial apprehension, the actress showed her commitment to her work by rehearsing her dialogues with other acclaimed stars from the web show. Justifying her character of Cheon Da-hye, Lee Joo-bin added that the villainous stance of her role had a reason behind it. “She put in so much effort to become Da Hye, and since I’m the one acting her out, Da Hye’s actions and thoughts all feel like they make sense so I didn’t necessarily think of her as a villain,” said Lee Joo-bin.

In the same interview, Lee Joo-bin admitted that after watching the latest few episodes of Queen Of Tears, she realised the extent of the misdeeds executed by Cheon Da-hye. “Oh my goodness, you’re not a good person. Let’s live better, Da Hye,” she said, as quoted by All K-pop.

Queen Of Tears revolves around two married individuals who navigate through life with their romance and love for one another amid a series of overwhelming crises. The K-drama’s engaging plot has the audience hooked to the small screen, lauding the on-screen chemistry between the protagonists.

According to a report by Nielsen Korea data, Queen Of Tears has amassed a mind-blowing rating of over 20 per cent, making the show the second-highest-ranked tvN drama. It has surpassed the record of Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun-starrer Goblin, rated at 20.5 per cent. The highest-rated South Korean series is Crash Landing On You featuring Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin.
