BLAKE LIVELY AND ANNA KENDRICK TO STAR IN A SIMPLE FAVOR 2, HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

Actress Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are set to reprise their roles in A Simple Favor 2, with new plot details now revealed. In an official announcement on Wednesday, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that Lively, Kendrick, along with Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho and Kelly McCormack will be returning for the sequel. Paul Feig will also be back in the directorial chair. The first film was adapted from Darcy Bell’s 2017 novel, and the screenplay for the sequel is written by Jessica Sharzer.

According to the synopsis, A Simple Favor 2 will follow the story of Stephanie Smothers, played by Kendrick and Emily Nelson, portrayed by Lively.

It will show the duo as they travel to the island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. The synopsis further teases that amidst the glamorous guests, there will be unexpected twists and shocking betrayals that will turn this wedding into a thrilling rollercoaster ride of murder and deception. It promises a storyline filled with more surprises and suspense than the winding road from Marina Grande to the Capri town square.

Kendrick has already expressed her excitement about reprising her role and diving back into the world of A Simple Favor. Kendrick described the sequel as “so good” to E! News in January last year. Talking about her character, she said, “It got like a little bit more savvy in her. She’s still Stephanie at the end of the day.”

“Our movie is all about appearances being not what they seem and so we loved the idea of playing with the concept of ‘It’s not what you think,” Feig had previously told PEOPLE even before the release of the first film.

Fans of the first film can anticipate more thrilling and unexpected twists as Stephanie and Emily find themselves entangled in a world where nothing is as it seems.

Apart from this, Lively will be seen next in the Colleen Hoover adaptation It Ends with Us, to release on June 21 this year. Kendrick was last seen in and produced 2022’s Alice, Darling and is all set for her feature directorial debut with the upcoming Woman of the Hour on Netflix.
