WATCH: KARISMA KAPOOR, MADHURI DIXIT RECREATE DANCE BATTLE FROM 'DIL TO PAGAL HAI'

Bollywood actors Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor left their fans nostalgic as they recreated their dance battle from the blockbuster hit 'Dil To Pagal Hai'. The two actors took the stage on the TV reality show 'Dance Deewane', where they performed to the instrumental of 'Dance of Envy'.

A video of Madhuri and Karisma's performance was shared by Colors TV on social media. In it, Madhuri looked gorgeous in her yellow outfit, while Karisma slayed in a black saree. As the two stars performed, Suneil Shetty, who is a judge on the dance reality show, cheered for them.

After their performance, Suneil said, "The greatest dancing stars of our industry and country. Tab bhi aap dono ke liye dil pagal tha, aaj bhi hai (Back then, people were mad for you two, and even today, they are mad for you)."

As the video was shared on social media, fans of Karisma and Madhuri showered them with praise. One of them commented, "Still the same energy (sic)". Another wrote, "Seems like it was yesterday..they still look young omg... (sic)". An Instagram user added, "Two OG legends together (sic)." Some fans were reminded of 'Dil To Pagal Hai', also starring Shah Rukh Khan.

In the Aditya Chopra film, Madhuri's character Maya, who was a dancer, was pitted against Karisma's Nisha. When Karisma was offered the film, she was wary of dancing opposite Madhuri, often addressed as the 'Dancing Queen' of Bollywood.

During her appearance on the singing reality show 'Indian Idol' in 2021, Karisma shared, "Every single heroine refused the film (Dil To Pagal Hai). The role came to me...it was a dance film and that too working opposite Madhuri Dixit. Everyone said, 'No, how can we dance alongside Madhuri Dixit ji.' Initially, I too said no to it as it was a dance film and competing in dance with Madhuri Dixit. I said, 'This isn't happening'."

Karisma added, "Then finally, Yash ji and Adi (Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra) narrated the story to me. My mother told me, 'You must take up the challenge. You are a big fan of Madhuri Dixit, you must do it. You work hard and you will shine'."

Hence, Karisma took up the role and even won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1998.
