SWASTI MEHUL RECALLS WORKING ON ‘NAAH GORIYE’; SAYS, “I WAS NOT TOLD BY JAANI SIR THAT I AM DUBBING IT FOR THE MOVIE - EXCLUSIVE

We have all seen how today no Bollywood movie is complete without a Punjabi song. They either create a new melody or revamp and use an already popular Punjabi song to give a tadka to the film. ‘Naah Goriye’ is a perfect example of the same. It was a revamped version of Harrdy Sandhu’s famous Punjabi song ‘Naah’, which featured in the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Bala’. The original song only had Harrdy’s vocals, while the movie version had a female part as well which was sung by Swasti Mehul, who recently recalled working on the track and shared some sweet anecdotes.

“Honestly speaking, I was not at all told by Jaani sir, that I am dubbing it for the movie. One day I received a call from their team and I went to Chandigarh with my brother. In the jam room, Jaani sir, BPraak sir and I jammed to certain songs. I sang some of my self-written original compositions also to them and they pretty much liked them (one of which we are releasing very soon.). Then suddenly Jaani sir asked me to sing ‘Naah Goriye’, and they loved my vocal texture and feel,” said Swasti speaking to ETimes exclusively.

“And then we went to the dubbing studio (Saffron Touch) and he asked me to sing the same over the microphone. B Praak sir was also there and they both gave me the cues and helped me dub it,” she added.

“A week later I was informed that the soundtrack is going to be released with Harrdy Sandhu sir, for the movie ‘Bala’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana. This was totally unexpected. After the song was released, my belief in my art kinda got reinforced, and I kept on working even harder since then. Sometimes you need that one sign to keep continuing with your efforts when it’s been so long swimming in the ocean of uncertainties, Naah Goriye was one that sign,” concluded the singer.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Swasti Mehul recently released her song ‘Dhool’. It is a beautiful melody sung in Swasti’s magical voice.
